We have the perfect treat for you if you’re searching for something to watch on television on Thanksgiving night after spending the day eating turkey and pumpkin pie: The original Fox Nation holiday movie, Christmas at The Greenbrier, stars GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Alicia Leigh Willis (ex-Courtney) in the title role. The historic West Virginia luxury resort serves as the setting for this second Fox News Media original film, which stars Willis and Josh Murray and is created for the company’s entertainment streaming service.
Had a blast working on this project, I tell you! In an Instagram post advertising the film, which was shot on site at the resort, Willis cheered. “What a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity it was to shoot at The Greenbrier.”
Willis portrays widowed mother Abby in the movie, while Murray plays ex-pro football player Ben. Before Ben’s football career got in the way, the two were dating. But when they unintentionally cross paths at The Greenbrier during the holidays, Abby and Ben could just have a second chance at love!
In the nearly 250 years since the storied resort’s first opening in 1778, The Greenbrier has hosted 26 presidents and numerous famous people. One of the most fascinating features of the famous hotel is the declassified bunker that was constructed into the mountainside in the late 1950s as a top-secret emergency Cold War fallout shelter for all 535 members of Congress, even though the stunning grounds, romantic carriage rides, and many other amenities are undoubtedly must-see attractions for tourists!
The film was shot throughout the summer, but Willis and Murray returned to The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs for the resort’s red-carpet debut in the middle of October. Throughout the month of November, visitors to the resort have been able to watch Christmas at The Greenbrier on demand. The former GH actor exclaimed, “What a fantastic night we had at the premiere of Christmas at The Greenbrier!” “I had the best time ever filming in this wonderful location. Can’t wait to return.
Willis mentioned that, as a single mother, she had a lot in common with Abby in an interview with the neighbourhood ABC station, WOAY. Willis, who just got engaged, said, “My life was kind of mimicking the role. “So, Abby and I both had a second shot at love. So having that play out on TV was extremely great.
