Last night, Alexa Demie and Taylor Russell, two of the hottest red carpet celebrities right now, teamed together. Russell, who recently completed her Bones and All press tour, is one of Hollywood’s bravest new risk-takers and a fan of chic Gucci garments from the Tom Ford era as well as Loewe and Schiaparelli. Demie, on the other hand, has regularly in glittery Balenciaga and antique clothing (often in her favourite hue, black). Although each actor has a distinct dress sense, they both demonstrated last night at the Moet & Chandon holiday gala in New York City that they go together like a pair made in heaven.
Both fashion icons chose sculptural, sleek black outfits. Demie chose a corset-like suit from Alaa’s spring 1992 collection to channel vintage flair. The wasp-waist gave the squared neckline and peaks of white lace a charming, yet fresh, feel. Russell, on the other hand, opted for a more futuristic outfit from Schiaparelli’s spring 2022 couture line. The spherical piping on her garment reminded me of Saturn’s rings. Both celebrities held hands on the carpet while sporting a matching pair of black pointed Christian Louboutin shoes.
