Predicting what comic-about-town Pete Davidson would wear next has been harder with each passing season. His fondness of colourful streetwear and other eccentric clothing came first, as was well-documented. When he was practically living on a red carpet with ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian, the Thome Browne outfit and many more more fitted styles followed. At the ribbon-cutting event for Chopard’s new opulent Fifth Avenue store, he is now wearing a suit jacket over a sweatsuit, which puts him somewhere in the middle. Not terribly unexpected, considering Davidson pulls off this stunning style with ease.
The outfit was created by Noah, a brand run by Brendon Babenzien that excels at fusing dressier American prep with a streetwise attitude. The highlight of the ensemble is a herringbone sack jacket created in association with Fox Brothers, a renowned British brand that has been producing wool clothing since 1772. The comfortable brushed-back fleece that has become a constant fixture in Noah designs is worn by Davidson over a matching sweatshirt and pair of sweatpants. Everything fits perfectly, with just the correct amount of slouch in the jacket and relaxed but not billowing sweats. Davidson takes it a step further by adding a Chopard Mille Miglia watch and some Bonnie Clyde clothing from Los Angeles, which has a decidedly 2000s vibe.
This feels like a particularly Davidson outfit, despite the fact that the comedian has recently become more at ease wearing a suit. And wearing the suit jacket and pants would have been a more conventional move, of course. But when it comes to the king of hoodies and shoes, wearing it with a sweatsuit is the perfect alternative. Going with sweatpants and a suit jacket is just the Pete Davidson way in 2022, when there are a million different ways to dress up.
